Hi Class,
This next assignment will be the last one in our "Health" unit. As mentioned in the previous post illegal drugs exist in our society. It does not matter whether you live in large cities like Vancouver or small towns like ours all forms of illegal drugs can be found. One would suggest a significant reason Salmon Arm would be on this list is the fact our city is situated on the main artery of our country (Trans Canada Highway). Hundreds of millions (if not billions) of dollars worth of illegal drugs pass through our community (right by our school) each year with a very small percentage being known about. It would be naive to believe none of this is being purchased in our city. It is sickening in my view because too many individuals get hooked on these drugs and subsequently die an early age because of the lifestyle they tend to lead while having drugs involved in their lives. Non of us want our loved ones to fall victim to this lifestyle. The more we educate ourselves with factual information the better prepared we are to support the safety of our family and friends.
This assignment will have you research common illegal drugs. You can work in groups of up to 4 people if you wish for this assignment (need approval from me first).You will research the information noted in the assignment and present your findings to me in a PowerPoint presentation (electronic). You can use Microsoft PowerPoint or iWork Keynote to create your presentation. You will also create a poster or video that will promote your presentation. Please familiarize yourself with the marking rubric as this is how your mark will be awarded. You are also required to submit a 250 word reflection on this assignment when you email me your presentation. If you work in a group each member is required to submit a 250 word reflection. Your reflection should include what you learned, your thoughts and opinions about the subject, and your thoughts and opinions about the project. Remember to back any critical views with suggestions or ideas to balance your point.
